Cathy McDowell

Cathy holds degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill (B.A., History), Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (M.A., Old Testament; M.A., Biblical Languages) and Harvard University (M.A., Ph.D., Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations).  She is the author of The Image of God in the Garden of Eden (Eisenbrauns, 2015), co-author of The Rewards of Learning Greek and Hebrew: Discovering the Richness of the Bible in Its Original Languages (Hendrickson, 2021), and has published numerous articles in academic journals, reference books, and notes for several study Bibles. She is currently writing a book on idolatry (InterVarsity Press) and a separate volume on Hebrew grammar (Zondervan). After over 20 years as a professor, she is happily serving as a preceptor at Duke Divinity school and an InterVarsity campus minister to graduate students and faculty at Duke.
